My South East Asia Itinerary!
I’m super excited to share with you all that I’m heading overseas for a 6 week adventure in South East Asia.
This is a trip that I’ve been dreaming and planning for a while, and I’m now down to the final 5 week countdown before I depart. Nervously there was a time recently where the entire trip was in doubt due to medical reasons, but I’ve been given the go ahead to travel and no one can stop me now!! Hooray!
After finally settling on a basic itinerary I’m began the exciting process of finding accommodation, flights, activities and most importantly food options to plan the trip. The issue is that we have to come home a few days earlier than anticipated due to work commitments. This means I have to cut down the trip. But from where? Should I cut days of from particular places, or cut one whole place out?
The itinerary as it stands is:
Bali seaside, Indonesia (3 nights).
- We are still deciding on an exact location for the start to the trip. I’m keen to have a few quiet days chilling by the pool with cocktails, but would love to be close to the beach and not too far from local restaurants.
Bali Ubud, Indonesia ( 3 nights)
- I’m looking forward to exploring the markets, doing yoga sessions and pampering myself with spa treatments.
Lombok, Indonesia. (4 nights)
- After reading so many blog posts and articles Lombok seems the perfect addition to the trip. A quieter, less touristy beach retreat where I can enjoy the local diving sites is the idea.
Singapore (4 nights)
The reason for this stop is simply food related. I want to eat myself silly on laksa, satay and fish head curry!!
Siem Reap, Cambodia (4 nights)
The main goal here is to spend 3 days exploring Angkor Wat. I didnt feel that doing it in just one day would be doing it justice, and we are travelling in the hottest month of May, so I’d like to give myself some room to explore at my own pace!
Bangkok, Thailand ( 5 nights)
The last time I was in Bangkok I was terribly unwell, terrified of eating street food and mostly didn’t want to leave my hotel room. I was a very unhappy camper. This time will be different! 5 days is quite short a stay for this city as there is so many things I want to see and do, including a bunch of markets, many sacred sites and of course eat all the street food I can handle!
Chiang Mai, Thailand (3 nights)
The Elephant Nature Park just north of the city has been a dream of mine for many years, and I would love to finally get there. I think I’ll probably cry of happiness when I see my first elephant!
Undecided Thailand beach. (5-6 nights)
There are just too many beautiful sites to choose from that I’m having terrible trouble narrowing it down to just one. Top candidates include Khao Lak, Krabi, Koh Tao and Koh Lanta.
Georgetown Penang, Malaysia. (5 nights)
The final stop of my South East Asia adventure. I’ve fallen in love with the architecture, art and food of this city after reading many blog posts about it.
I’m super excited to travel around the area, but sad that I have to cut it short. I can’t wait to explore this amazing region, meet locals, soothe my muscles with massages, devour delicious street food and to look at the world with wonder. I. CANNOT. WAIT!
Do you have any suggestions where I might be able to cut this trip down? Any tips or recommendations for my selected destinations? I’d love to hear your suggestions!
