Review- The Old Woolstore Apartment Hotel Hobart
After writing about MONA and how you absolutely must visit it, the logical thing would be to suggest somewhere to stay. I have a two-part answer- if you want to stay in an apartment /private residence then the Cowgill apartments is great choice (i’ll write about that on another day) or if you wish to stay hotel or serviced apartment then the Old Woolstore Apartment Hotel is the perfect place to stay.
The Old Woolstore Apartment Hotel Hobart is one of the most popular choices of accommodation in Hobart, with people choosing it for its central location and great amenities.
The hotel is located only a short walking distance from the wharf in Hobart. This is the ideal spot for those wanting access to the central district of Hobart (you’re practically in it), the food and entertainment area of Salamanca Place (a comfortable 10 minute walk away) or to the docks from which boat tours such as the MONA ferry or Bruny island cruises depart (easily an under a 5 minute walk).
Many travellers will appreciate the range of accommodation options on offer at the Old Woolstore, as solo travellers, holiday makers, extended stays and families all have great rooms available. From sophisticated hotel rooms, to studio apartments, to spa suites or two bedroom apartments, the Woolstore has you covered!
I stayed in a studio apartment for 3 nights recently with my fella who was there for work purposes, and well I was just the tag-along! This accommodation was pre-selected for us by the company he works for, but I had heard so many positive things about this hotel that I was pumped to stay here! It didn’t disappoint!! Our impressive room was spacious and well designed.
The one oversized room featured a queen bed with comfortable linens, a small dining table and leather chairs for two, a leather two-seater couch, a work station, plenty of wardrobe space and a well equipped kitchenette.
A dishwasher, half sized fridge, microwave and electric hot plate (as well as the usual suspects kettle, toaster, etc) allowed us the chance to cook for ourselves which you will definitely want to do if you get to visit the markets!!!
There was a separate bathroom which was big enough to fit oversized vanity unit, toilet, shower, washer and dryer. It was a very well cleaned space and the soap/beauty options were luxurious.
Another great element of the studio apartment was the tiny Juliet balcony that gave us a view over the harbour (if you stood on tip toes!). The balcony was so small that only one person can stand out there at a time, but the big windows allow the view to be enjoyed even from the bed.
Considering how central this hotel is I was pleasantly surprised how quiet it was, although there was a weird phantom wind sound in the corridors (the lift system maybe?)
The hotel also has a bar and restaurant downstairs serving great Tassie produce, as well as a room service menu. I didn’t try these options but my fella did and he was impressed! Who wouldn’t love a Tassie cheese plate delivered to their room?!
The Old Woolstore Apartment Hotel Hobart is the ideal destination for those wanting to visit Hobart for a night, a few days or an extended trip! You won’t be disappointed!
